Eric Brown Crowned NACAC Champion in the Javelin

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Former Arkansas javelin thrower Eric Brown won the title at the NACAC Under 23 Championships in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, this past weekend. He won the event with a toss of 225-8. Brown is also the NACAC Under 23 meet record holder in the event with a toss of 239-10.5, set in 2004.

The NACAC (North America, Central America, Caribbean) Under 23 Championships hosts current collegiate and post-collegiate athletes from the geographic areas. The United States sent 88 athletes (male and female with two entries per event) and Brown was the lone male Hog or former Hog to compete.

The 2006 NCAA runner-up in the event, Brown’s best throw of the day, 225-8, was also his first throw of the competition. He marked six legal throws but could not better his first attempt.

Andrew Vogelsberg of Emporia State was the other American entry in the event and he finished in second-place with a throw of 218-9. Vogelsberg will return to Emporia State this fall for his senior campaign.
