FAYETTEVILLE — University of Arkansas head women’s golf coach Shauna Estes-Taylor capped off a very successful recruiting year with the signing of Regina Plasencia to a National Letter of Intent Friday. Regina Plasencia joins Kayli Quinton and Gabriela Lopez who signed earlier this week. Plasencia adds international flair to the Razorbacks checking in from Guadalajara, Mexico. “Regina is an outstanding young lady,” Estes-Taylor said. “We feel very fortunate to have gotten Regina and look forward to welcoming her to our family. Like Gaby, Regina is very seasoned in her tournament experience. Regina is the No. 2 ranked player in Mexico and will bring a ton of passion and skill to our team. Regina has had a great junior career and I believe she is just starting to hit her stride. She is playing in The Lorena Ochoa Invitational this week with the best LPGA tour players in the world and that speaks volumes about her level of play. She is a gritty player and knows how to get the ball in the hole. I love this about Regina and can’t wait for her arrival in August. Regina gives us great depth and will have an immediate impact on our program.” Plasencia attended Instituto Alpes San Javier in Guadalajara, Mexico, and is a member of the LPGA Futures Tour as an amateur. She took part in the LPGA MasterCard Classic in 2009 and the LPGA Corona Morelia in 2009 and 2010. Plasencia played in the AJGA Polo Golf Junior Classic, the Optimist International Tournament of Champions and the Callaway Junior World Championships in 2010. Some of her more recent events include the Santorini Riviera Nayarit Classic as a special invitee where she shot a 152 (81-17) in April.
