FAYETTEVILLE — In its final non-conference weekend of the season, the University of Arkansas softball team is set to host the Razorback Invitational at Bogle Park. Due to the recent winter storm in Northwest Arkansas, the schedule of the two-day round robin was adjusted to begin Saturday. The Razorbacks will play host to Bradley and Mississippi Valley State. Saturday’s games will begin at 11 a.m. (CT) with games following at 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. The event will conclude Sunday with the first game scheduled for a 10 a.m. start with games following at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. The Razorbacks will play in the final two games each day. Arkansas enters the weekend with a 15-5 record overall, the third-best start through 20 games in program history and second best under head coach Mike Larabee. The Razorbacks have won 13 of their last 15 games and own a combined 6-0 series advantage against Bradley (7-12) and Mississippi Valley State (2-13). Arkansas last played Mississippi Valley State in 2005 and last faced Bradley during the 2009 season. Sophomore Stephanie Canfield continues to lead the team with a .406 batting average and 26 hits while junior Devon Wallace has a team-high four home runs. Canfield and junior Kasey Fagan lead the team with 22 runs scored and senior Clarisa Navarro has a team-leading 22 RBI. In the circle, freshman Grace Moll leads the pitching staff with six wins and 38 strikeouts. Through the first four weeks of the season, the Razorbacks are ranked in the top two in the SEC in batting average (2nd/.346), slugging percentage (2nd/.579), on-base percentage (2nd/.469), runs scored (2nd/177), RBI (t-2nd/156), triples (1st/9), walks (2nd/112) and sacrifice flies (1st/9). During the season, UA students and fans 17 years and younger get into all Arkansas softball games for free with valid ID. General admission tickets are $4 while tickets for groups of 10 or more are $2 at the ticket window. Season tickets for the 2014 campaign are available for $45 in addition to opportunity for fans to rent suites at Bogle Park during the year. For more information or questions, call (479) 575-6904.
