FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas volleyball team begins its second week of SEC play with a road trip to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama on Wednesday evening. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CT) at Foster Auditorium and will be televised on the SEC Network. The Razorbacks have split their first two league matches and are 11-3 overall while host Alabama carries an 11-4 record with a 0-2 mark in SEC play.
All-Time Series vs Alabama
Entering Wednesday’s match, Arkansas carries a 32-12 lead in its all-time series against Alabama including a 12-8 record in matches played in Tuscaloosa. However, the Razorbacks are looking to snap a six-match skid in the series, and its first win against Alabama since the 2012 season.
Last Time Out
Arkansas pushed then-No. 3 Florida—now the top-ranked team in the country—to five sets in a 3-2 setback to the Gators at Barnhill Arena (Sept. 24). The Razorbacks led 4-1 in the fifth and saved two match points before Florida came away with the 15-13 win. Redshirt senior Pilar Victoria and sophomore Reagan Robinson had 30 and 12 kills, respectively. Four of the last eight Arkansas-Florida matches played in Fayetteville have gone five sets.
30 and Counting…
With 30 kills against third-ranked Florida, redshirt senior and team co-captain Pilar Victoria posted her fourth 30-kill outing of the season, and the seventh of her career. Of the 18 30-kill performances in the NCAA this year, she has four and is the only player with multiple. Victoria leads the SEC and NCAA with 6.25 kills per set while posting a .340 hitting percentage.
Double-Double vs Florida
With 54 assists and 11 digs against No. 3 Florida (Sept. 24), sophomore setter Rachel Rippee had her sixth double-double of the season and added a career-high five kills. She enters Wednesday’s match against Alabama ranked first in the SEC and ninth in the NCAA with 11.79 assists per set.
After their trip to Tuscaloosa, the Razorbacks return to the road Sunday, Oct. 1 for a road match at Auburn. Arkansas’ next home match is Friday, Oct. 6 when the team hosts Ole Miss at Barnhill Arena. Individual match tickets are $5 while students and fans 17 years and under receive free admission for all home matches.
