Football practice report

The Arkansas football team continued to prepare for the SEC opener against Georgia with a workout Tuesday inside the stadium. Following the session, UA offensive coordinator Paul Petrino spoke with the media:

On Michael Smith:"He’s fresh and good and I thought he had a great practice tonight. He looked fast and was flying around out there and I’m excited to watch him play."

On the rain at practice Tuesday:"It was good. We ended up getting a bit of rain. We threw and caught the ball a lot better tonight. We’re going to end up playing in the rain some time so it was nice seeing guys running around in it and doing a good job of getting their pads down and getting in and out of their breaks. They caught the ball well in the rain tonight, so that was good."

On Tuesday’s practice:"I thought it was good intensity. I think we need to improve execution, but you could feel the energy out there and the intensity was real good. Obviously, you can always get better on the execution so there are a lot of things we need to get down the next two days and our walkthroughs prior to the game."

On the importance of winning at home:"That is something we talk about all the time. We want to defend that home field, so I think every home game is real important. You can’t win them all if you don’t win the first one at home. We have to go out there and get after it and be tough and more physical. Usually the team that is more physical and hits harder wins, so that is what we are going to try to be."
