Football practice report

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas football team continued practice Friday morning with a workout inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Following the session, Coach John L. Smith visited with the media:

On East Carolina:"They are real solid in everything they do. We’ve always said that about those guys even when we were at Louisville. They’ve got a kid on kickoff return (No. 17) that is special. He’s a legit receiver, kick returner, football player. A lot of people do not want to kick him the ball and they are wise in not wanting to do that. He stands out. The other thing you see about them is they are not fancy and are not going to give you a lot of fluff. They are going to line up and execute and you have to be solid at what you do. They do a good job in return, punting game and their punter is another kid that stands out. He’s got good get off and will be playing on the weekends as well. We’ve got to be ready for him. He’s hard to get to because he gets the ball out quick. As we look at them, we have to be more solid in what we do."

On practicing outside:"Hopefully, tomorrow we can get a 20 minute segment outside. It would really help us. Getting outside today, the weather was really gorgeous. If we can continue that it will be awesome. We have to prepare in the special teams assuming that the weather could be bad."
