Football practice report

The University of Arkansas football team began its third week of spring practices with a workout Tuesday inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Following the practice, defensive coordinator Willy Robinson spoke with the media and gave his thoughts on last Friday’s scrimmage. "For the 180-plus plays it was pretty decent," said Coach Robinson. "We had a lot of missed tackles where we need to improve. We felt we ran to the ball very well, but once you get there you have to tackle. The big plays still concern us even though they are not as obvious because they are not the deep outside throws." After having time to watch the film of the scrimmage, Coach Robinson commented on a few of the players that stood out to him. "(Damario) Ambrose did a nice job up front," said Robinson. "I thought his preparation throughout the week was what helped him have the performance he had on Friday. He worked hard on Tuesday and Wednesday he did the same thing. Anthony Leon started fast and was very productive and (Rudell) Crim had a solid practice as well. Bret Harris had a very productive scrimmage." Coach Robinson was also asked about the play of cornerback Darius Winston, who saw action in four games in 2009. "I think Darius has had a really good camp," said Robinson. "We fill like he can cover and do those things. As far as making plays he had one of the big hits during the scrimmage, which is a sign of growth. He just needs to be a consistent tackler throughout." The Razorbacks are scheduled to continue practice on Wednesday, which will be followed by a scrimmage Friday and practice on Saturday. The Red-White spring game presented by Cox Digital Cable will be held at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium on Saturday, April 24. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
