Former Razorback honored

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Former University of Arkansas volleyball player Sara Kincaid was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association Hall of Fame it was recently announced. Kincaid is a Broken Arrow, Okla., native who began her collegiate career at Missouri State-West Plains and completed her last two seasons at Arkansas. As a junior college player, the 6-5 middle blocker rewrote the Lady Grizzly record books. She finished her two seasons as the career leader in blocks (665.5), kills (1,106), hitting percentage (.436), attempts (2,041) and service aces (112). She was a two-time first-team NJCAA All-American, All-Region team and NJCAA Championship All-Tournament Team selection. Kincaid was equally as impactful at Arkansas. A four-time Southeastern Conference Player of the Week selection, she also earned American Volleyball Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-America honors. At the conclusion of her career, Kincaid ranked first in blocks per game (1.49), points-per-game (4.79), third in kills-per-game (3.64) and hitting percentage (.341), seventh in block solos (70) and ninth in total blocks (353). To be elected into the Volleyball Hall of Fame as a player, former student-athletes must have been enrolled full-time at an NJCAA school and cannot be nominated until three years after graduation. Nominees were standouts in athletics as well as having displayed academic success and having exceptional character. Kincaid and the three other selections will be inducted at an awards banquet held in conjunction with the NJCAA Women’s National Volleyball Championship Tournament Nov. 20-22 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Kincaid completed her collegiate playing career but remains in Northwest Arkansas working as an assistant volleyball coach alongside former Razorback Jessica (Field) Phelan at Fayetteville High.
