Forrest Phillips Earn SEC Track Honors

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Razorbacks Shawn Forrest and Duncan Phillips were honored with SEC Athlete of the Week Honors, it was announced on Tuesday.

Forrest, named the SEC Runner of the Week, earned the award for his performance at the Payton Jordan Cardinal invitational. Forrest ran the 10K at Stanford and clocked an NCAA automatic-qualifying time in the event. He was the 11th runner to cross the finish line in the field of 34. He was the fourth collegian to finish.

His time, 28:41.92, is a personal best by nearly 25 seconds, ranks second in the SEC and 10th in the NCAA.

Phillips, named the SEC Freshman of the Week, is being honored for his race at the Arkansas Twilight. Phillips finished sixth in the 800 meters at John McDonnell Field with a regional-qualifying time of 1:49.65.

He clocked a personal best in the event and his time ranks 25th in the nation (second among freshmen), eighth in the Mideast Region (first among freshmen) and 10th in the SEC (first among freshmen).
