Four Razorbacks Earn Freshman All-SEC Honors f

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas boasts four players on the All-SEC Freshman Team as selected by league coaches it was announced on Thursday. Only Mississippi State (5) had more selections than Arkansas on the team. Georgia also had five players on the team.
The selections from Arkansas included wide receiver Marcus Monk, offensive tackles Robert Felton and Matt Gilbow and punter Jeremy Davis. Davis was one of five unanimous selections to the freshman team. It was the second freshman All-SEC honor for the four Razorback players after they garnered the same recognition from The Sporting News earlier this week.
Monk led all freshman receivers with 37 receptions for 569 yards and six touchdowns. The Lepanto, Ark., product set a new UA freshman receiving mark breaking the record formerly held by Richard Smith. He played in all 11 of Arkansas’ games including earning a starting nod in six contests.
Felton took over a starting spot at offensive tackle midway through the season. He racked up 41 knockdown blocks in 11 games, including 32 in the last five games. He earned a team-high nine knockdown blocks against the Bulldogs, but his best performance came against No. 12 LSU where he racked up a career-high 10 knockdowns.
Gilbow played in all but one of the Razorbacks’ 11 games including earning a start at offensive tackle against Georgia. He spent most of the season as the top reserve at tackle before switching to tight end late in the campaign.
Davis took over punting duties for the second half of the season and registered a 39.2 yards per punt average on 25 kicks. He landed six of his punts inside the opponents’ 20-yard line and forced eight fair catches.
