FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The reigning four-time Southeastern Conference Champion University of Arkansas men’s cross country program announced its schedule for the upcoming 2014 season, which is highlighted by the Razorbacks hosting the 2014 NCAA South Central Regional in November.
The 2014 campaign features a good mix of new and old races in the regular season for the Razorbacks, as they will travel to two new locations, as well as compete in a pair of events they participated in last season. Arkansas is looking to win its fifth consecutive conference title and the program’s 22nd SEC Cross Country Championship in the last 24 years.
Arkansas will open its season on Labor Day Weekend, as they travel to Tulsa, Okla., to participate in the Hurricane Cross Country Festival on Aug. 30. The Razorbacks will take an extended break before traveling to the Bronx, N.Y., to compete in the Iona Meet of Champions on Sept. 20.
The team will host its lone 2014 regular season race on Oct. 5 with the Chile Pepper Festival Invitational, an event that the team won a year ago. The second return race from the 2013 campaign will take place on Oct. 17, when the Razorbacks return to Madison, Wis., to run in the Wisconsin adidas Invitational. Arkansas earned a seventh-place finish in the 35-team event last season.
After a week off, Arkansas will look to defend its 2013 SEC Championship title at the 2014 SEC Championships in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Oct. 31.
Fayetteville will host the 2014 NCAA South Central Regional on Nov. 14 and this year’s NCAA Championships will be held once again in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 22.
