BY ANDRES FOCIL
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The game time for Saturday’s Arkansas-Vanderbilt baseball game has been moved to a 3:07 p.m. start to accommodate television.
The game will be aired regionally by Fox Sports Net as the Southeastern Conference game of the week.
Arkansas enters the weekend series against the Commodores with a 25-6 overall record and a 7-5 record in the SEC. The Hogs are ranked in three of the four national polls with their highest ranking coming from Baseball Weekly/ESPN which has the Razorbacks 20th in the nation. Collegiate Baseball has Arkansas ranked 25th, while the National Collegiate Baseball Writers have the Hogs tabbed 26th.
Vanderbilt is 16-15 overall and 5-7 in the SEC. The Commodores swept SEC East leading Florida last weekend in Nashville and boast the current SEC Player of the Week in pitcher Jeremy Sowers. Sowers currently leads the league in strikeouts with 70 and fanned 11 in last Friday’s 2-1 victory over the Gators.
Arkansas leads the all-time series against Vandy with a 13-7 record. Last season the teams were limited to only one game as heavy rains forced the cancellation of two games. Vanderbilt won the only game last season 4-3, as Sowers held the Arkansas bats in check.
Friday’s series opener is slated for a 6:30 p.m. start, while Sunday’s series finale will begin at 1 p.m.
