Game, pep rally set for Thursday

ATLANTA, Ga. — The Univesity of Arkansas men’s basketball team is set to take on Tennessee in the first round of the 2011 Southeastern Conference Tournament in Atlanta, Ga., Thursday.

Fans in the area are invited to a basketball pep rally to support the Razorbacks. The pep rally features the Hog Wild Band and Razorback Spirit Squads and takes place at the International Deck located directlry between the Georgia Dome and Philips Arena. The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Eastern/5 p.m. Central.

The Razorbacks take on the Volunteers in the first round of tournament play. Arkansas, the No. 4 seed in the Western Division will take on the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Division Tennessee by virtue of tiebreakers that were determined following the Kentucky-Tennessee game played last Sunday.

The game is scheduled for a6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, on a game televised by the SEC Network. The winner of the Thursday matchup moves on to play the top seed in the East, Florida, on Friday, March 11, at 6:30 p.m. The game is scheduled to air locally on 4029TV. Pleasecheck local listings.

The Razorbacks defeated the Tennessee Volunteers in their first Southeastern Conference game of the season at Bud Walton Arena, 68-65. Senior Delvon Johnson led the Razorbacks in scoring with 17 points and added three blocks in the contest while Rotnei Clarke scored 15 points and Marshawn Powell added 14. Tennessee freshman Tobias Harris led all scorers with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
