Garrison Notches Second Personal Best At U.S. Open

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Senior Jessie Garrison clocked her second long course personal best of the week Friday morning with a time of 1:02.42 in the 100 Butterfly prelims at the 2017 U.S. Open Swimming Championships in New York.

“It was a personal best long course time, but both Jessie and I were expecting more,” said head coach Neil Harper. “She has had a busy summer schedule with some great training. We will now focus on the 200 IM on Sunday.”

On Wednesday, Garrison swam a personal best 2:14.98 in the 200 fly in the prelims to qualify for the event’s B-final where she finished fifth in her heat, 13th overall.

Juniors Madison Strathman and Sydney Angell each swam in the 200 breaststroke on Thursday, posting 34th (2:37.80) and 36th (2:38.08) place finishes respectively in the prelims.

Next up, Strathman and Angell will swim in the 100 breast prelims on Saturday morning.
