Georgia comes to Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas men’s tennis team will play host to the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Earlier this week the No. 68 Razorbacks hosted Oral Roberts and Saint Louis in a doubleheader at the Billingsley Tennis Center. The Hogs swept both teams 7-0 while also gaining confidence and closing out matches. Many players were seeing action for the first time this spring. They all were successful and came away with wins. The two victories moved the Razorbacks to 6-10 (0-4 SEC) for the season.

“Good things are ahead of us,” head coach Robert Cox. “I see some wins coming our way.”

The Bulldogs will be bringing a talented squad to Fayetteville. The team is No. 11 In the ITA rankings, and contains three individual and three doubles teams that are all ranked in the top 50 in the country. Their highest ranked singles player is Wil Spencer at No. 13, and for doubles Hernus Pieters and Javier Garrapiz at No. 10. The Bulldogs are 14-3 (5-0 SEC) and are on a nine-match winning streak that the Hogs hope to break.

“I’m really excited about the match,” said Cox. “It will be a really good home match for us. They have a historically strong program.”

The Hogs are led in singles by Matt Hogan with 14 wins, and Chris Nott with 13 wins. For Doubles, the Mike Ward and Nikolas Zogaj lead all others with 12 wins on the year. For more information regarding the men’s tennis team, log on to www.ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
