Goal-Setting Program Empowering Female Student-Athletes

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – More than 20 female student-athletes engaged in a goal setting workshop earlier this month at the Jerry & Gene Jones Family Student-Athlete Success Center.

The Feb. 8 workshop was hosted by the Women Helping Others Lead and Empower Women (W.H.O.L.E.) student organization and facilitated by Shun Strickland, a life coach and CEO of Shun Strickland Enterprises, a LLC designed to empower women to live according to purpose. The program focused on setting personal goals utilizing “CBAs”: Clarity, belief and actions.

Strickland also shared information on personal integrity and other foundational information for goal setting with the student-athletes in attendance.

The Student-Athlete Development staff also guided the group through an accountability exercise for the goals they have set. The staff will continue to check in with the group during the remainder of the semester to assist them with goal progress.

W.H.O.L.E. is a group for female student-athletes facilitated by the female staff of the Office of Student-Athlete Success (OSAS). The group creates an environment where female student-athletes can create authentic relationships that promote empowerment, self-esteem and unity.
