Rusty. Arkansas has battled weather a lot this spring and its been tough to get outside. Conditioning, strength training, mental preparation and swing analysis continue while the snow melts.
SHEAN SHINES FOR RAZORBACKS
Razorback senior Kelli Shean has been the team leader in the first four events. The Cape Town, South Africa native has been Arkansas’ top finisher in all four events and picked up her first collegiate win at the Marilyn Smith/Sunflower Invitational Sept. 29. She leads the team with a career low 72.25 stroke average this year.
MORE ABOUT THE EVENT
This is Arkansas’ fifth appearance at the Central District Invitational. The Razorbacks most recent appearance came Feb. 19-20, 2007 and Arkansas’ best showing was in 2005 when they were second in the 14-team field.
AT THE CENTRAL
Senior Alex Schulte is the only current Razorback to have played at the Central District Invitational. Schulte played in Arkansas last appearance in 2006-07. She tied for 30th overall shooting 71-74-75=230 as a true freshman.
Schulte has played in all four fall events and is averaging 77.33 strokes per round this year.
2010 FIELD
This year’s Central District field includes: Arkansas, Florida, Kent State, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Purdue, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M and TCU.
SEEMS FAMILIAR
It should. Arkansas is facing 10 teams in the 15-team field for at least the second time. Arkansas meets TCU for the fourth time, Northwestern for the third and Florida, Kansas State, LSU, Missouri, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, South Carolina and Texas A&M for the second time this season.
THE COURSE
River Wilderness Golf and Country Club is a private, member-owned Club located in the Sarasota/Manatee County area. The Club borders the north shore of the historic Manatee River just off Interstate 75. It is convenient to both Sarasota and Tampa Bay commercial, retail and entertainment areas, yet it is a secluded (gated with 24-hour guard) golf and boating community. The golf course, designed by Ted McAnlis, is situated on 150 acres of pristine landscape and is a part of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System which blends the property’s natural beauty with an abundance of wildlife. fFom riverwildernesscc.com
ARKANSAS’ LINE-UP
The Razorbacks have not yet determined the lineup for the Central District Classoc. It will likely include Kelli Shean, Kristin Ingram and Alex Schulte who have been among the top finishers in the first events.
ABOUT SHAUNA ESTES-TAYLOR
Head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor is in her third year with the Razorbacks as the skipper of the squad. After five successful seasons as the Razorback assistant, Estes-Taylor had helped Arkansas to six consecutive NCAA Regional appearances and four NCAA Championship appearances.
Assistant coach Mike Adams is also back for his third season with the Razorbacks.
