FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas women’s golf team tees it up for the final fall event Monday-Wednesday at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.
The event is the fourth of the fall for Arkansas and the Razorbacks are looking forward to the return to the golf course this week.
“We’re excited about the Vegas tournament,” Razorbacks head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said. “We didn’t finish as well as we would have liked at our last event and we’re ready to get back out there and put that behind us.”
Senior Kelli Shean leads Arkansas in the No. 1 spot again this week. Shean leads the Razorbacks with the lowest stroke average through the first three events and picked up her first collegiate win in Manhattan, Kan., three weeks ago.
The Cape Town, South Africa native is joined by Corinna Rees, Katy Nugent, Alex Schulte and Kristin Ingram for this week’s event.
“It’s a good lineup,” said Estes-Taylor. “This is a solid group and all of them have the ability to go low for us. We need to play with more consistency and confidence. We also want to finish strong as individuals in each round and as a team on the final day. Those are some of our goals for the weekend.”
The three-day event takes place at Boulder Creek Golf Club just outside of Las Vegas in Boulder City, Nev. The 16-team field includes No. 14 Florida, No. 19 Louisville and No. 22 Arizona all of whom are ranked in the Golfweek top 25. The rest of the field includes BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, Idaho, Kent State, Minnesota, Missouri, Northwestern, TCU, Texas Tech, UC-Davis, Washington and two teams from UNLV.
