Hamlin Named to Football News All-Freshman Tea

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Razorback redshirt freshman Ken Hamlin has been named to The Football News All-Freshman team it was announced by the publication on Friday.
It is the second such honor for the free safety from Memphis, Tenn., after earning Freshman All-America recognition earlier this month from The Sporting News. In addition, Hamlin was named to both the Southeastern Conference Coaches’ and Knoxville News-Sentinel’s All-SEC Freshman squads.
“I’m extremely proud of the season Ken had at free safety,” Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt said. “To come in and lead the team in tackles in his first year of collegiate competition is truly outstanding. Ken is one of the main reasons we led the league in passing defense. We are looking forward to even bigger and better things from him down the road.”
Hamlin, a 6-2, 210-pound free safety, recorded two interceptions and led the Razorbacks in tackles this season with 104, including 57 solo stops.
The Razorbacks will reconvene in Las Vegas, Nev., on Saturday night before beginning official bowl-week preparations on Sunday. The Razorbacks (6-5) will take on the UNLV Rebels (7-5) in Las Vegas Bowl IX on Dec. 21 at Sam Boyd Stadium. The game will be televised by ESPN2.
