Hartzler Recognized For Stellar 2016 Season

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior defender Jessi Hartzler has been named by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) into its 2016 Senior College Women’s Scholar All-America Team for Division I on Thursday.

This award is the latest national accolade for the Razorback junior defender, who posted record individual season numbers in 2016 with eight goals, 17 points and four game-winners.

Hartzler’s play on the field during the Razorbacks’ 30th season directly contributed to the team’s success this past season. She played a key role in several matches, topped by her two goals against then-No. 4 Florida on Sept. 16 that led to the Hogs’ upset 2-1 win over the Gators at Razorback Field.

Along with her Scholar All-America award for the 2016 season, the Kearney, Missouri, native also earned a spot on the NSCAA All-South Region Second Team as well as being named NCAA Soccer Player of the Week on Sept. 21.

She also earned TopDrawerSoccer.com ‘Team of the Week’ nods for two consecutive weeks on Sept. 13 and Sept. 20.

In addition, she was also named into the Southeastern Conference All-Conference Second Team and earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week recognition on Sept. 20.

Hartzler will be honored along with other national All-America and Scholar All-America winners on Jan. 14, 2017 during the NSCAA All-America Luncheon at the Concourse Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center.
