He Said She Said

He Said, She Said
He Said, She Said is a continuing diary from the Coaches Cook. Find out what’s going on with the team on an ongoing basis.
August 24, 2004 The GymBacks are back on campus and ready to start the third year of the program. Everyone had a great summer. Most of the girls got to travel all over the world. Audra went on a mission trip to Honduras and on vacation in the Caribbean. Val, our manager, did a study abroad program in Italy. Hannah spent some time in Hawaii.Emily and Cassie had separate trips to Colorado. Mallory vacationed in Mexico. Everyone spent quality time with their families, and of course kept in shape! Most of the team did take a session of summer school and everyone did great in their classes, lots of A’s and just a few B’s. Yeah Team! Mark and I went whitewater rafting down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. Not being a very outdoorsy girl, I was a bit apprehensive about the whole thing. We camped for five nights and then climbed out of the canyon on the sixth day. Wow, what an experience. I survived the camping quite well, the fact that there were not many bugs probably helped! After all, Audra my bug killer was not on the trip with me! The rafting was fun, but extremely cold! I wore a wetsuit everyday trying to keep warm! The food was great, the company even better! But the views, absolutely amazing! The most difficult part was the 8 mile hike up the canyon. Mark decided we were fit enough not to use the mule service. So, both he and I carried our gear out of the canyon. Let’s just say, it was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. However, the reward of making it to the top was worth it! We are excited for this upcoming year. The team is definitely more mature and equally as hungry to make Arkansas Gymnastics one of the best programs in the country. We look forward to sharing ourexperiences of this season through He Said, She Said. We hope you enjoy learning more about our program and ourselves.Woo…Pig….Soieeee!!!Rene
