FAYETTEVILLE – After two seasons in Cardinal and White, former Razorback miple blocker Kasey Heckelman will extend her volleyball career with a recent signing of a professional contract. The Bloomington, Ill, native will play with the Pislaploki club in Pihtipudas, Finland. Heckelman is the fifth member of Arkansas’ 2012 senior class to continue her career at the professional level.
In her two seasons at Arkansas, Heckelman posted a .318 hitting percentage which stands as the fifth-best mark in program history. She transitioned from outside hitter to miple blocker for the Razorbacks when she joined the team prior to the 2011 season. During her career in Fayetteville, Heckelman established career bests of 10 kills, nine total blocks and a .700 hitting percentage.
Heckelman translated her success into the classroom as a 2012 Capital One Academic All-District performer and a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll. She was a four-time academic champion-4.00 grade-point average during a semester-within the University’s athletic department and earned her degree in May 2013.
Heckelman joins the list of recent Razorback professionals that includes Roslandy Acosta, Amanda Anderson, Jasmine Norton and Janeliss Torres-Lopez. Most recently, Anderson signed on with the Brondby Volleyball Klub in Denmark and begins play with the team this month. Acosta, Norton and Torres-Lopez all joined the Puerto Rico Superior League following the 2012 season. Acosta played with Valencianas de Juncos while Norton and Torres-Lopez were members of Leonas de Ponce.
