Heidloff Fletcher Guide Lady'Backs at Rice

HOUSTON-Freshmen Jesika Heidloff and Emily Fletcher led the University of Arkansas swimming and diving team to a fourth-place finish at the Marriot West Loop-TRY Rice Invitational, Saturday Nov. 5, in Houston, Texas.

In the second and final day of competition, Heidloff finished second in the 100 breaststroke after earning top honors in the 200 breast, Friday.

Arkansas swimming head coach Anne Goodman James said she was proud of the Lady Razorbacks after a tough, three-day weekend.

“We were better Saturday, but still struggling a little bit,” she said. “I was impressed with our attitude, and their ability to keep going after their races even though they were tired.”

Fletcher scored for the Lady’Backs with a seventh-place finish in the 200 butterfly, which impressed Goodman James.

“Emily Fletcher had a big drop in the 200 fly,” Goodman James said. “She is such a great racer.”

The 200-medley relay team of junior Mariann Fulop, Heidloff, freshman Summer Jackson and junior Kristen Thibodeaux gave Arkansas a third-place finish.
