Hester honored with campus community service award

FAYETTEVILLE — University of Arkansas golf coach Kelley Hester was selected as the recipient of the UA Staff Senate’s Excellence in Community Service Award for 2005. Entering her fourth season at the helm of the Arkansas golf program, Hester has been busy both on the links and in the Northwest Arkansas community. "I’m humbled and honored to be recognized for this award," said Hester. "It’s always important to be active in your community and I enjoy getting involved in the Northwest Arkansas community." Hester has been active in the Northwest Arkansas community since joining the Lady Razorbacks three years ago. Some of her projects include volunteering at the Yvonne Richardson Center serving meals, participating with Arkansas Athletes Outreach at the Boys & Girls Club, adopting families and Thanksgiving and Christmas and helping out with the Extreme Makeover of the Morgan Nick home in Alma, Ark., earlier this year. The award is given annually by the Arkansas Staff Senate. Kathi George, a secretary for Women’s Athletics, and Arkansas assistant coach Shauna Estes nominated Hester for the award. Hester will be recognized at a luncheon Sept. 8. For more information about Arkansas golf log on to LADYBACKS.COM.
