FAYETTEVILLE – The top Southeastern Conference (SEC) finisher at the prestigious Wisconsin adidas Invitational, placing sixth overall in the race in a time of 19:56, Grace Heymsfield has been named the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Runner of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday. Heymsfield helped the No. 8 Razorbacks to a second-place finish among the decorated field that included 18 of the nation’s top 30 teams. Including upsets over No. 1 Providence, No. 4 Washington and No. 7 New Mexico. Heymsfield set the SEC’s top 6k time during the race and was awarded the honor for the second time this season. Previously, she was given the honor for being the top collegiate finisher at the 25th Annual Chile Pepper Festival just two weeks prior. Arkansas is now four-for-four in collecting SEC weekly honors, including sweeping both Runner and Freshman Runner of the Week honors in the team’s last opportunity. The Razorbacks now prepare for the 2013 SEC Championship which will be held in Gainesville, Fla. on Friday, Nov. 1. The women’s 6K is slated for a 9 a.m. start.
