FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas’ gymnastics team, ranked No. 2 in the nation, went to Florida last week and posted one of the best scores in school history.
The Razorbacks recorded a 196.700, which ties for the school’s ninth-best mark ever. It’s also the third-best score for a road meet.
Arkansas, ranked No. 1 in the nation on bars, had a 49.30 on that event, which ties for the program’s fourth-best. Arkansas also had a season-high 49.05 on beam.
Highlights from the meet include nine scores of 9.85 or better. Sophomore All-American Katherine Grable had a 9.90 on vault to win the individual event title, a 9.85 on bars, a 9.925 on beam and a 9.875 on floor. Her 39.55 matches the school’s eighth-best all-around score while her beam mark ties for fifth-best. Senior Mariah Howdeshell, ranked No. 1 in the nation on bars, had a 9.875 on that event. Sophomore Shelby Salmon had a career-high 9.925 on bars to equal the third-best score in school history. Senior All-American Jaime Pisani, ranked No. 1 in the country on floor, had a 9.85 on beam and a 9.90 on floor. Junior All-American Amy Borsellino had a 9.85 on floor. Grable is No. 2 in the nation in the all-around and on beam.

Arkansas is home for two meets this week. The Razorbacks entertain No. 13 Auburn on Friday at 7 p.m. and No. 5 Oklahoma on Sunday at 2 p.m. Both meets are being televised for tape-delay broadcasts. The Auburn meet airs on Fox Sports Net, which is Fox Sports Southwest in Arkansas, on Feb. 11 at 8 p.m., and the Oklahoma meet airs on Cox Sports Television on Feb. 12 at 5 p.m.
