Hog Track Hosts Only Home Meet of the Season o

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas track and field squad returns home this weekend as it hosts the John McDonnell Invitational, the only home track meet of the season for the Razorbacks, Saturday at John McDonnell Field on the UA campus. Field events begin at 10 a.m. and running events begin at 2:00 p.m.
In the third meet of the season for the Razorbacks, the Hogs will host 12 other schools and will look to qualify more athletes for the NCAA Championships, May 31-June 2, in Eugene, Oregon. High jumpers Kenny Evans and Lavar Miller are the only two Razorbacks that have met the qualifying standard thus far this year. Evans cleared the automatic qualifying standard 7-4.50 last week at the Texas Relays and claimed first place while Miller met the provisional qualifying standard, 7-3.75 came at the SEC Five-Way Meet in Athens, Ga., in the first meet of the season.
Schools competing at the John McDonnell Invitational include Arkansas, Arkansas Tech, Butler Community College, Harding, Kansas, Memphis, Missouri – Kansas City, Missouri Southern, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, Southern Illinois, Southwestern Christian and Tulsa.
Hog distance runners Sharif Karie, Daniel Lincoln, Murray Link and Ryan Travis will compete in their first individual races since the 2001 NCAA Indoor Championships in mid-March. Andrew Begley will also return to action this week after sitting out a majority of indoor season due to injury.
The Hogs will hit the road again next weekend as the head to Walnut, Calif., for Mt. SAC Relays on April 20-22.
