Hog Tennis Set For Match Against No. 69 Fresno State

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorback tennis team will open its home schedule Sunday when it hosts No. 69 Fresno State at the Walton Life Fitness Center in Bentonville, Ark at 12:30 p.m. CT. The match was moved from the Dills Indoor Tennis Center due to renovations to the on-campus facilities.

No. 76 Blake Strode is 2-0 on the young spring season after picking up two wins last weekend at the Shocker Invitational, in which he collected his 60th career singles victory. In doubles play, Strode and senior Colin Mascall defeated No. 47 Luka Marinkovic and Daniel Tobar of Illinois State, 8-4.

Collectively, the Razorbacks won 14 of their 15 singles matches and five of six in doubles action during the season-opening event.

Sunday’s match against the Bulldogs will be the first dual match of the season for Arkansas and the first of eight consecutive home matches for the Razorbacks. A stretch that includes matches against nationally ranked teams from Fresno State, No. 7 Texas (Feb. 1) and No. 23 Tulsa (Feb. 14).

Razorback head coach Robert Cox will be facing one of his former players as Jay Udwadia returns to Northwest Arkansas as the head coach of Fresno State. Udwadia played for Cox and the Razorbacks from 1994-97. His team is 1-0 after beating Cal Poly, 5-2, in its season opener.
