FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Sunday’s match brings the final home appearance for two seniors as the Hogs take on the No. 33 Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Dogs’ come in with two ranked players, junior Romain Ambert is No. 25 while junior Max Fomine sits at 123.
The Bulldogs come in with a record of 7-10 and 3-7 in the SEC. They have wins over Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee. Much like the Hogs they have struggled as of late, winning only four of their last ten matches. The Razorbacks (11-10, 2-7) come in dropping four straight, with their last win coming March 18. A win today will put the Hogs at .500, a mark they’ve been above since the 2000 season.
The conference race shows Ole Miss clinching the West while Florida has wrapped up the east. A win against the Bulldogs would put Arkansas in fifth place in the Western Division.
Head coach Robert Cox is hoping his team can pull it together today for a win.
“We’ve been playing a lot better,” Cox said. “Unfortunately, so have our opponents. Mississippi State is no light weight and we are going to have to come out and give it everything we’ve got and hopefully come away with a win today.”
Action between the Hogs and the ‘Dogs will kicks off at 1 pm at the UA Tennis Complex.
