Hogs Ready For 42nd Annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. — The Arkansas women’s tennis team will continue their fall season this weekend at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.

Arkansas will send three players to the tournament: seniors Mia Jurasic and Léolia Jeanjean and junior Ana Oparenovic.

The round of 16 doubles tournament will begin at 4:45 CT Thursday, while the round of 32 singles tournament will begin at 8 a.m. Friday. The quarterfinals and semifinals will both be played at 9 a.m. Saturday. Those rounds will be held at The Town Club in Fox Point, Wisconsin, while the finals will be held on the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s campus in Panther Arena on Sunday. Singles will begin at 9:30 a.m., while doubles will start at 12:30 p.m.

The Milwaukee Tennis Classic has partnered with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association to make this an “ITA Gold Level Event.” The event will provide the men’s and women’s singles champions with wildcards into the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which will take place Nov. 1-5, at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California and other resort locations.

“We are excited to compete in the Milwaukee Classic,” head coach Michael Hegarty said. “Recent University of Arkansas Hall of Honor inductee Chin Bee Khoo is a three three-time winner of the event. So the Razorbacks have a proud history at this event.”

Jurasic enters her senior season as the Razorbacks’ active career leader in singles victories with 51.

Oparenovic enters the fall with 30 singles victories over the past two seasons, including eight against nationally ranked opponents. As a pair, Jurasic and Oparenovic have amassed 33 wins in doubles.

Jeanjean is coming off an impressive junior campaign in which she led the Razorbacks with an 18-2 singles record, including a 7-1 mark in SEC action.
