Razorbacks Set For All-American Championships

Draws: 2017 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — With fall competition in full swing, four Arkansas Razorbacks are set to compete at the 2017 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships, which will run from Saturday, Sept. 30 to Sunday, Oct. 8.

For the 33rd consecutive year, the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, California, invites the nation’s top Division I women’s players to compete in the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships. Pre-qualifying matches will be contested at Pepperdine University, with Riviera Tennis Club holding qualifying and main draw matches.

The No. 9 ranked duo of sophomore Giulia Pairone and senior Léolia Jeanjean was among 19 pairs nationally selected to the main doubles draw set for Oct. 5-8.

No. 62 Jeanjean and junior No. 36 Ana Oparenovic will each compete in the qualifying singles draw Oct. 3-4.

No. 100 Pairone and senior Mia Jurasic will participate in the prequalifying singles draw Saturday, while Oparenovic and Jurasic will also team up for the prequalifying doubles draw.

“It’s always exciting to begin the Riviera event,” head coach Michael Hegarty said. “As one of the premier events of our season, it brings out our best in our players.”

Last weekend, the Razorbacks turned in an impressive performance at the prestigious Milwaukee Tennis Classic, including a doubles title appearance by Oparenovic and Jurasic and a singles quarterfinal appearance by JeanJean.

In all, the Razorbacks turned in several quality performances, combining for an 8-4 record across the tournaments three days.
