Hogs Set to Start ITA Regional Action

Tulsa, Okla. – Arkansas will begin play Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to compete for the second time in the Omni Hotels Region V Championships.
Arkansas will compete against players from 16 other schools in Region V, Arkansas-Little Rock, Bradley, Creighton, Drake, Evansville, Illinois State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, Saint Louis, Southern Illinois, Southwest Missouri State, Tulsa, UMKC, and Wichita State.
“The ITA Regional is one of the high points of the fall season,” head coach Robert Cox said. “We have been gearing up for this weekend in order to do well in our region. Our team is confident after our efforts at the ITA All-American Tournament last week.”
This weekend will see all nine Razorbacks playing, with all but three receiving automatic bids into the field of 64 main draw, which begins on Friday. Junior Talley Parker, Sophomore John Ewbank, and Freshman Andrei Nicoara will begin action Thursday in qualifying to earn a spot in the main draw.
No. 71 Adrians Zguns will begin main draw action on Friday as the two seed. His teammate, Senior Nathan Price, after a strong performance last week in the ITA All-American Tournament, has been seeded third for the weekend. The rest of the Razorbacks will join Zguns and Price in action on Friday in the main draw. Doubles action will start on Friday as well.
