FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – For a half in Wednesday’s Southeastern Conference opener, it didn’t matter that Ole Miss was playing without starting forward Tommie Eddie. In the second half, it may not have mattered if he had played as Arkansas pulled away for a 69-46 victory over the Rebels. The 23-point margin of victory is the largest for Arkansas in an SEC game since Feb. 21, 1998, when UA topped Auburn by 24, 107-83. Arkansas has won eight straight and is now 13-1 overall, 1-0 in the SEC. Ole Miss, which learned on Wednesday it would be without the services of the 6-7, 245-pound Eddie, who was averaging 12.2 points and 4.6 rebounds through 13 games, dropped to 9-5 and 0-1. The Razorbacks have already topped last year’s win total for the year when they went 12-16.
