Fifty four Razorback student-athletes worked with Feed My Starving Children, a Christian non-profit organization, over the weekend to help pack food for children starving in third world countries across the globe.
In total, the student-athletes packed 260 boxes of meals, which held 36 individual packages containing uncooked soy beans, rice, vegetables and vitamins. The student-athletes accounted for nearly 58,000 of the 212,000 individual meals packaged overall.
Feed My Starving Children registration volunteer Barb Stewart stated that she was thankful for the helping hands of the student-athletes and was glad to see them utilize their competitive juices for this worthy cause. “The students were very encouraging and added a lot of energy to the atmosphere while we were packing the boxes. It was also good competition between groups to see who could pack the most boxes.”
The teams that participated in the event included swimming and diving, gymnastics, women’s and men’s golf, women’s and men’s tennis, and volleyball.
