Hogs Wrap Up Final Practice Before Taking on A

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Razorbacks worked for just over an hour Thursday afternoon in chilly, breezy conditions preparing for their Southeastern Conference showdown with the 17th-ranked Auburn Tigers.
Offensive line coach Mark Markuson said the Hogs have had a good week of practice heading into Saturday’s contest.
“We have been very focused the last two weeks,” Markuson said. “I think winning some games has helped with that. It gets everybody fired up and working hard. I thought we prepared well last week and we have gotten some good work in this week as well.”
Markuson added that the Razorbacks have continued to work on eliminating mistakes such as penalties and turnovers. The Razorbacks did not commit a turnover in their 10-7 victory over South Carolina two weeks ago, marking the first time this season that has happened.
“We have talked a lot about playing mistake-free football,” Markuson said. “We need to be sharp and execute well if we want to give ourselves a chance to win. We know what we have to do.”
Markuson also commented on the differences in the offensive line’s play when the more run-oriented Matt Jones is under center compared to Zak Clark.
“A lot of the things we do when Matt is in the game is very similar to when Zak is in there,” Markuson said. ” The blocking schemes are the same, we’re just doing them from a different formation so there isn’t a big change for them.”
The Hogs are averaging 168.75 yards rushing in their last four games and has only given up one sack in the last three outings.
“I think our chemistry is much better,” Markuson said. “I think it started getting better against Alabama. We’ve seen improvement every week and we just need to keep it going.”
The Razorbacks and Tigers will kickoff at 11:30 a.m. at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The game will be regionally televised by Jefferson Pilot.
