Hogs earn SEC honors

FAYETTEVILLE – The Southeastern Conference has announced the 2010 All-SEC Indoor Track and Field teams with 23 members of the Arkansas Razorback men’s and women’s track and field teams gracing the lists.

Senior Alain Bailey, freshman Drew Butler, junior Michael Chinchar, senior Scott MacPherson, sophomore Andrew Pennington and senior Dorian Ulrey earned first-team All-SEC honors. Chinchar, Butler, Pennington and Ulrey teamed up to win the distance medley relay. Individually, Ulrey won the mile and 3,000 meters, MacPherson won the 5,000 meters and Bailey won the long jump.

Sophomore Tarik Batchelor and freshman Solomon Haile earned second-team All-SEC honors. Batchelor was the SEC runner-up in the long jump while Haile finished second in the 3,000 meters.

Caleb Cross, Eric Fernandez, Haile and Matt Kirbos were named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. Cross finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles. Fernandez was fifth in the 5,000 meters. Haile was runner-up in the 3,000 meters and Kirbos was fifth in the heptathlon.

The NCAA Championships will be held Fri.-Sat., March 12-13, at Fayetteville’s Randal Tyson Track Center.
