Hogs fall in SEC finale

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Razorbacks softball team dropped game three of the SoutheasternConference series finale 9-1against No. 6/5 Tennessee on Sunday in Knoxville.

The Razorbacks took an early lead in the SEC finale with the first run of the day scored by freshman Jennifer Rambo. Two outs and an error brought junior Jessica Robison to the plate. She took 12 pitches from Ivy Renfroe from Tennessee in order to get the base on balls and bring home Rambo.

Freshman Amanda Geile picked up the Razorbacks lone hit on the day for the Razorbacks. The right fielder drove a single through to left center for the hit, moving the runners and putting Rambo in scoring position.

"It was a disappointing weekend, but I thought Kim Jones pitched really well," head coach Mike Larabee said. "She competed well and kept her composure very well. If we didn’t have that one error at first, we played really solid on defense as well."

The No. 6/5 Lady Vols did not waste any time coming back to tie the game with five unearned runs of their own in the home half of the second. The Vols scored one in the third and three more in the home half of the fourth with a three-run home run from Lauren Gibson.

The Razorbacks wrap the 2011 season against UMKC in Fayetteville on Thursday, May 5.
