Hogs No. 12 in coaches' poll

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.-The first Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll of the spring season was released putting the University of Arkansas men’s golf team again in the top 25 at No. 12, receiving 293 points. The Razorbacks last appeared on the list in the ninth position in November, taking 335 points in the poll.

Still topping the list that will appear in the February 23rd edition of Golf World was Georgia, earning nine of the 22 first place votes with 525 points. Oklahoma State (No. 2), Southern California (No. 3), Alabama (No. 4) and Illinois (No. 7) also received first-place votes. Georgia, Oklahoma State, and Alabama have all yet to play their season openers, while Southern California took the title at the UH Hilo Invitational recently, and Illinois finished fourth at the inaugural Big Ten Match Play Championship.

Washington made a dramatic jump, improving their standing in the last poll from No. 15 to an eighth place on the most recent standings after a runner-up finish at the UH Hilo Invitational behind No. 3 Southern California.

Arkansas competed in their first tournament of the spring season last week at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate. The team turned out a fourth place finish in the field of 17 teams. Senior Andrew Landry tied for fourth, just 3 strokes behind the tournament title-winner. The Razorbacks will next see tournament action March 6-7 at the Seminole Invitational.
