Hogs release fall schedule

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas men’s tennis team faces multiple tests in the 2009 fall tournament season as it adjusts to losing its No. 1 player, Blake Strode, while continuing to face tough opponents from around the country.

“We’ve definitely got a challenging schedule this year,” head Arkansas coach Robert Cox said. “This schedule will present each of the guys on our team with opportunities to test themselves and see who far they have come since last spring and how much their work over the summer has paid off. This year’s schedule is as good a schedule as we’ve had in the last five years.”

The Hogs begin the fall tournament schedule at Waco, Texas at the Baylor Intercollegiate tournament, Sept. 25-27.

Moving quickly into the heart of the fall schedule, the Razorbacks will begin the prequalifying matches for the ITA All-American Tournament on Oct. 2. The All-American, including prequalifying, qualifying and the main draw runs through Oct. 11.

Following the All-American, the Hogs return to action at home in the Razorback Invitational, Oct. 16-18 at the George M. Billingsley Tennis Center and Dills Indoor Stadium.

Arkansas will not get a break as it travels to Tulsa, Okla. Oct. 22-26 for the Wilson/ITA Central Region Championships. The championships were held in Fayetteville last season where returning Razorback Matt Hogan advanced to the finals in the singles draw.

The Razorbacks will be on the road again at the end of the month at the UNLV Collegiate Classic before closing the fall season Nov. 5-8 at the Virginia Tech Invite in Blacksburg, Va. and the ITA National Indoor Championships.
