Hogs send seven netters to S.C. Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. –Arkansas men’s tennis travels to Columbia, S.C. this weekend for the South Carolina Invitational; Razorbacks coach Robert Cox takes Connor Smith, Taylor King, Bradwin Williams, Tariq Ismail, Nick Spinazze, Tyler Tarnasky, Matt Walters to compete in the tournament.

Returning to the courts for the first time since playing in the Navy Invitational last month where he went 2-1, Williams hopes to pick up more wins in South Carolina, and teammate Spinazze looks to have better results in October after finishing 1-2 in September. Walters, the Razorbacks lone freshman, will be back in action after splitting his previous matches, 2-2. Tarnasky has played only one match during the fall tournaments, a loss to Stepan Siska of Southeastern Louisiana.

The season begins this weekend for Smith, King, and Ismail. Smith and King both saw play with the Razorbacks last season; Ismail did not compete during the 2007-08 season.

In doubles, the Razorbacks will send the teams of Williams and King, Tarnasky and Spinazze, and Walters and Smith to the courts. Ismail will pair with a player from North Carolina in doubles.

Play begins at the Sam Daniels Tennis Center on Friday when the Hogs take on South Carolina at 2:30 p.m. with singles to follow. The Razorbacks will face off against North Carolina and Louisville in both doubles and singles on Saturday and Sunday. For complete results and updates log onto www.ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
