FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas Razorbacks softball team closes out its spring break road trip with a three-game weekend series against No. 1 Alabama March 25-27 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The Razorbacks are fresh off a split doubleheader with Ole Miss where the Razorbacks collected their first Southeastern Conference win of the season. Senior Becca Carden had two home runs on the day, and freshman Jennifer Rambo collected her second of the season during the first game of the double bill.
Carden is leading the team in batting average with .348. She also leads the Razorbacks with six doubles and five home runs this season. The senior collected four RBI against Ole Miss to bring her season total to 20.
The matchup against Alabama marks the second No. 1 team Arkansas has faced this season. The Hogs handed then-ranked No. 1 UCLA its first loss of the season at the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., in February. The Razorbacks have won seven of their 49 meetings with the Tide with the last win coming in 2002 when Arkansas took a 2-0 win over Alabama.
Arkansas holds a 10-21 season record and 1-9 in the conference. Alabama moved to 6-1 in the league and 30-2 overall after a split series with No. 11 Tennessee. The Lady Vols took the nightcap from the top-ranked Crimson Tide on Tuesday with a 4-1 final score.
The series begins Friday at Rhodes Stadium with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. The Saturday and Sunday matchups are each scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Live stats, live audio and an interactive blog are all available for each of the three matchups.
