Knoxville, Tenn. – Arkansas is in a tie for sixth place after the first two rounds of the Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions on Monday at the Holston Hills Country Club.
The Razorbacks fired rounds of 3-over-par 287 and even-par 284 for their 571 total. Tournament host Tennessee leads the event by 18 strokes over second-place Alabama. The Volunteers turned in rounds of 16-under 268 and 6-under-par 278 for a two-round total of 546 heading into Tuesday morning’s final round.
The Crimson Tide boasts a two-round total of 654 with Georgia Southern in third place with a score of 566. Missouri and Virginia are tied for fourth at 569.
Florida State and Virginia Tech join the Hogs at three-over-par 571, 25 strokes behind leader Tennessee.
Junior Matt Bortis leads the Razorbacks’ contingent in a tie for sixth individually after a first round 4-under-par 67 and a second round 1-under 70. He is just four strokes behind Tennessee’s Lloyd Campbell, who is leading the way at 9-under-par 133. Vols Jonathan Mount and Philip Pettitt are tied for second place at 7-under-par 135.
Freshman Jordan Payne is quickly making a name for himself as a Razorback after firing a one-under-par 70 in the second round on Monday. The 70 was on the heels of a 74 in the opening round earlier in the morning. He sits in a tie for 27th at 2-over par for the tournament.
Beau Glover and Will Osborne bounced back from disappointing first rounds of 76 with an even-par 71 from Glover and a 73 from Osborne in the second round. Glover is tied for 46th at 5-over 147 for the tournament, while Osborne is tied for 56th at 7-over 149.
Barrett Lais is tied for 41st heading into Tuesday’s final round. He shot a 5-over-par 76 in the second round to slip from a tie for 11th after the first round. Lais shot a 1-under round of 70 in the morning session.
The final round of the Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions is slated for Tuesday morning. The Hogs are scheduled to tee off at from the 10th hole at Holston Hill Country Club at 8:42 a.m.
