Hopkin Breaks Eighth Record, Diving Finishes in Texas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- The Arkansas swimming and diving team had another successful day in the pool, with Anna Hopkin breaking her fifth record of the week and the divers finished competing at the Texas Diving Invite.

In Texas, Maha Amer finished ninth in platform diving with a score of 211.20 and Estilla Mosena finished in 12th with a score of 196.35. The dives were the first platform dives for the Razorbacks this season.

At the Missouri Invite, Hopkin’s lead-off split time in the 800 yard freestyle relay (1:45.48) set a school record for the 200 yard freestyle. Hopkin, Peyton Palsha, Lexi Ljunggren, and Marlena Pigliacampi earned a second-place finish in the relay with a time of 7:13.50.

The Hogs earned four podium finishes, winning one event. Andrea Sansores, Sydney Angell, Kobie Melton, and Hopkin finished second in the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:37.89), setting a season-best time in the event.

Palsha won her heat in the 400 yard IM (4:12.97), setting a season-best time by 10 seconds. Melton’s fifth-place finish in the 100 yard backstroke (53.87), narrowly missing the school record by .5 seconds.

Arkansas finished day two in second place, with one more day of competition ahead of the team.
