Huckabee Leads Rally Lady'Backs Fall to Auburn

FAYETTEVILLE – Despite a seventh inning rally, the University of Arkansas softball team fell to No. 18 Auburn, 2-1, Sunday, April 23.

The Lady Razorbacks (24-28, 8-15) were trailing the Tigers (31-13, 12-9) 2-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning, when senior designated player Blaire Perry reached base on an infield single. With two-outs, sophomore infielder Dayna Huckabee recorded an RBI-double to give the Lady’Backs a chance.

Arkansas softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said he was disappointed that the Lady’Backs couldn’t win their second consecutive Southeastern Conference series of the season.

“Another opportunity slipped away,” he said. “We’ve got to take advantage of other pitchers mistakes. I thought we played well defensively and Katy (Henry) pitched well again.”

Auburn took a 1-0 lead in the second inning with two hits. The Tigers then added another run to increase their lead, 2-0, on two hits in the fourth inning.

Sophomore Katy Henry (13-13) took the loss while throwing a complete game. Offensively, senior infielder

Shana Easley contributed a double to the Lady’Backs effort.
