Hudson Punches Ticket To Qualifying Draw

Riviera ITA All-American Championships: Pre-Qualifying Draw | Qualifying Draw

South Carolina Fall Invitational: Day One | Day Two

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Day three of the Riviera ITA All-American Championships saw Arkansas women’s tennis junior Shannon Hudson continue her run in singles, taking down Texas Tech’s No. 86 Sabrina Federici to advance to the tournament’s qualifying draw.

Hudson, ranked 96th nationally, picked up her third straight-set victory of the tournament, and her sixth win of the fall, by downing 86th-ranked Federici, 7-6 (5), 6-1.

“It was great to see Shannon advance out of the pre-qualifying rounds today,” head coach Michael Hegarty said. “Plenty of quality players did not make it through pre-qualifying so it is a confidence builder for sure. The goal is to keep making progress in each match and that remains the focus.”

Hudson will join teammate Yuliya Lysa in the qualifying draw, slated to begin Tuesday, Oct. 6.

In Columbia, South Carolina, Sunday’s action of the South Carolina Fall Invitational was cancelled due to inclement weather conditions and heavy flooding.
