FAYETTEVILLE – Behind a standout senior campaign at Barrington High School in Illinois, soon-to-be Razorback softball freshman Loren Krzysko has been tabbed a First-Team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Krzysko is a member of the 2013-14 recruiting class bought in by University of Arkansas head coach Mike Larabee. "This is an incredible honor for Loren," Larabee said. "She had a great season and topped it off being named the best player in the country at third base. We are very proud of Loren and excited for her to be a Razorback." During the 2013 season for Barrington, Krzysko carried a .493 batting average with 68 hits, 18 home runs, 20 doubles, 60 RBI, 61 runs and a 1.058 slugging percentage. In recognition of her play, she was the Daily Herald Player of the Year, a first-team all-state performer with the Illinois Coaches Association and a first-team all-area player as named by the Chicago Sun Times. Krzysko finished her four-year prep career with 42 home runs which is fifth all-time in the state of Illinois. During her time at Barrnington, she also established career school records in home runs (42), extra-base hits (85), RBI (156) and runs scored (171). Krzysko’s single-season numbers from 2013 in home runs, runs scored, slugging percentage and extra-base hits (40) are also school records. This latest award adds to the list of accolades for the Razorbacks’ incoming class. Earlier this summer, incoming freshman Sydney Wright was named the 2013 Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Florida while Rachel Box was named the 2012-13 Outstanding Player of the Year for the state of Arkansas by the Democrat-Gazette. Box tallied a .494 batting average, 11 home runs, 28 RBI and a .550 on-base percentage during her senior season at White Hall High School. Playing for Bishop Snyder High School, Wright was 27-5 with a 0.51 ERA in the circle and posted a .443 batting average, 10 home runs, 46 RBI and a .821 slugging percentage at the plate. Krzysko is part of the Razorbacks’ incoming class that also includes Box, Wright, Kelsey Berlin, Jessica Harrison, Shelby Hiers, Grace Moll and Parker Pocklington. Box and Krzysko will enter Arkansas as preferred walk-on additions to the program. The Razorbacks just completed their 2013 season with 36-20 record an appearance in the Norman Regional final of the NCAA Tournament.
