FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas nose guard Jeremy Harrell has been named as the Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday. Harrell tallied a team high and career high nine tackles, including six solo stops, in the Razorbacks’ 27-10 win over Alabama on Saturday.
“I’m pleased that Jeremy was recognized for his outstanding play against Alabama,” Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt said. “He always plays with a lot of heart. He played the best game of his career after coming off an ankle injury. I’m proud of him.”
The Texarkana, Ark., native helped lead a Razorback defense that pitched a second half shutout for the second consecutive week. In fact, Arkansas has not given up points in the fourth quarter in eight of the last nine games including the last seven consecutive contests.
It is the second time this season that a Razorback defensive lineman has been recognized by the SEC. Senior defensive tackle Arrion Dixon won the defensive lineman of the week award for his performance in the season opener against New Mexico State.
