John Jacobs Invite Leads to Five Regional Marks for Track Hogs

NORMAN, Okla. – Nkosinza Balumbu, Spencer McCorkel, Daniel Quinn, J-Mee Samuels and Mychael Stewart recorded regional-qualifying marks for Arkansas track and field at the John Jacobs Invitation in Norman, Okla. on Saturday.

Samuels finished second in the 100 meters. With a time of 10.33 with a legal wind of 3.8, he clocked his first regional-qualifying time of the season. Cedric Zellner finished sixth in the 100 meters with a clocking of 10.80. Zellner also finished 14th in the 200 meters with a time of 21.79.

Stewart won the long jump with his mark of 24-11.25. The leap is a season best and betters his previous regional-qualifying mark.

Typically known for his triple jumping, Balumbu is also showing promise in the long jump. He placed fifth in the event with a personal-best leap of 24-1.5, also a regional-qualifying mark.

Daniel Quinn won the triple jump with a leap of 50-10.75. His mark, with a legal win of 3.6, is his first regional-qualifying mark in the triple jump this season. He also has a regional-qualifying mark in the long jump.

Spencer McCorkel cleared 16-6.75 for the second week in a row. The regional-qualifying clearance, he finished third in the invitational pole vault.

Chris Bilbrew finished 10th in his 400-meter collegiate debut. He clocked a time of 49.01. Also on the track, Lane Boyer made his Razorback outdoor debut. Competing in the 1,500 meters, he clocked a time of 3:57.50, good for a fifth-place finish

Also on the track, Kent Austell finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles. He clocked a time of 54.03. Michael Chinchar competed in the 800 meters. He clocked a time of 1:58.33 and finished 24th.

In the “B” flight of the pole vault, Chad Burnett cleared 15-1 to finish fourth. In the javelin, Kyle Komarek threw 173-0, good for a sixth-place finish.
