Jones Recognized for Community Good Works

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – For the second-consecutive year, Breana Jones represents the Razorbacks on the SEC Volleyball Community Service Team. Now in its 14th year, the Community Service Team looks to highlight a student-athlete from each league school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

As part of Arkansas’ Family Fun Day initiatives, Jones and other Razorbacks distributed backpacks and school supplies to elementary students prior to the 2016-17 academic year. She has also continued her role in the Book Hogs program with visits throughout the semester to local elementary schools to read to children. Jones is also a member of Arkansas’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

In pursuing her degree in elementary education and goal of becoming a teacher, Jones currently spends 3-4 days per week as a student teacher at Sonora Elementary School in nearby Springdale, Arkansas. The Razorbacks’ senior co-captain is a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and carries a 3.628 cumulative grade-point average.

Jones was second on the team with a career-high 210 kills behind seven matches with 10 or more kills, six of which came against SEC opponents. She also established single-season career highs of 106 total blocks—35 more than previous high—and 15 service aces. During her senior campaign, Jones had career-high performances of 16 kills at Mississippi State (Nov. 20) and 11.0 total blocks at No. 4 Kansas (Sept. 3).

The Peachtree City, Georgia, native finishes her Razorback career with a .327 hitting percentage, good for sixth in program history. Jones also ranks top 20 in career total blocks (259.0) and top 30 in career kills (554) and points (722.0).
