Kaluder falls on second day at the Riviera

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Junior Ela Kaluder had a near miss in her second day match at the Riviera All-American women’s tennis tournament.

Kaluder pushed 78th-ranked Ashlee Davis of Wake Forest to a third-set tiebreaker before yielding. The Lady’Back junior dropped the first set quickly, but turned the match around in the second. Each held service in the final set, but Davis managed to gain advantage in the breaker for the, 6-1 3-6 7-6 (3), win.

"Ela made some great progress at this event, upsetting Mavroleon yesterday and almost pulling off another upset today," Lady Razorback assistant coach Jon McLaughlin said.

Arkansas is idle until the weekend when three players will travel to the USTA Collegiate Classic, Oct 7-9.
